How to do it
- Lie on a flat bench with your eyes under the bar, grip it a little wider than your shoulders and pull your shoulder blades back.
- Unrack the bar over your shoulders, then straighten your legs and lift your feet just off the floor.
- Lower the bar to your lower chest with your elbows about 45° from your body, keeping your hips on the bench.
- Press back up to straight arms, keeping your core braced so you don't rock or tip to one side.
- Go lighter than on your usual bench, use a spotter or safety arms, and plant your feet before you rerack.
Warm up first and pick a weight you can control through the whole movement. Stop if something hurts.
