How to do it
- Stand tall with feet hip-width apart, holding the bar at your hips with a shoulder-width overhand grip.
- Keep your legs almost straight, with only a slight knee bend that stays the same throughout.
- Hinge at your hips and lower the bar close to your legs toward your feet.
- Drive your hips forward to return to standing tall.
- Only go as low as you can with a flat back; stop before your lower back starts to round.
Warm up first and pick a weight you can control through the whole movement. Stop if something hurts.
